New Hair

Hey Peoples,

So, I'm trying this conditioning less deal this week. I also decided to do a twist out. For anyone not familiar with this: you wash your hair (in my case with conditioner only), twist several twists while hair is still wet, and after it's dry loose and go. I know that many natural women do this process, and I have been especially inspired by Curly Nikki (http://www.curlynikki.com/). Now, I've tried this before, and have not been satisfied, but I figured I'd give it another whirl. So far, it's okay, but we'll see how things are shaping up at the end of the week. I've been taking pics, so I'll give a pictured report by next week. In the meantime, if anyone out there does this technique regularly please share your experiences (ie. how long it lasts, what your bed routine is, how you wear it during the day...) and what products you use.

Tootles for now,
Me :-)

  1. I realize this is late, but I find that if I do medium to small twist with a thicker, heavier, creamy moisturizer, such as Carol's Daughter Hair Butter, I get the best twist outs. At night, I grab a spray bottle of water and whatever product I used and retwist. It can be time consuming, but the more you do it, the quicker you get, especially if you watch tv while you do it. It also depends upon the length and thickness of your hair.

  2. Hey,
Yeah, I've come to realize that twists that are too small or too large equates to not cute twist out. I haven't tried healthy hair butter before, but I did use Shea butter the last couple of times I tried a twist out, and it was nice (although I don't love the smell). I'll have to look into Healthy Hair Butter. I need to make a Carol's Daughter hair run anyway after pay day :-)
How long do your twist outs usually last before you have to wash again?

  3. Depends on how active I am and if I retwist at night. If I don't retwist I would say a work week :D
