Wow

On a twist out I spritzed my hair with water, flat twisted the very front (I made a bantu knot at the end of the flat twists and bobby pinned),  I did one more flat twist on a section in the center in the same manner, put a mini ponytail in the back and put the rest into braids.

Okay, so, yesterday I got the brilliant (insert sarcastic voice) idea to detangle and twist my hair.  Now mind you, one of the reasons I got my hair cut was because I didn't enjoy things like detangling.  However, the grass is always greener right, yup, now I miss "doing" my hair.  Anyhoo, so yesterday for the first time in about 6 months I decided to detangle my hair (well, I always finger detangle when I co-wash but I decided to get real yesterday).  I suited up, ie. grabbed a towel, got my tools, ie. conditioner, denman brush, bobby pins and plenty of claw clips, and went to work on my hair.

I rinsed my hair with water, added conditioner (Aubrey Honeysuckle Rose) and began detangling with my denman one section at a time.  Once I detangled a small section I two-strand twisted the section and moved on to the next section.  After about 2 twists I began questioning what possessed me to do this; however, I persevered and a little over an hour later had detangled and twisted my entire head.

Due to laziness and Spring Break fever I didn't rinse the conditioner out.  So in preparation for bed I spritzed a bit of water on my hair, tied down with a satin scarf and called it a night.     This morning I loosed the twists (only because I had someplace to go) and then created a faux up-do using only my imagination and a ton of bobby pins.  All in all, it was okay (of course I forgot to take a picture :-/).  Anyhoo, I wanted to preserve the style in the same manner that I used to when I regularly did twist outs so tonight I spritzed with water, flat twisted the very front, braided the rest (all that could fit into braids) and put the very back into a mini ponytail.

I have to admit, I was quite excited that I could fit almost all of my hair into three flat twists (I did one extra in the back), three braids and one puff.  Wow!  I can't believe how much my hair has grown.  When I first got my hair cut the sides and back were shaved and now eight months later I can almost get all of my hair in braids!!!!  Hooray!

July 2012, the day of my hair cut

Well, that's all for now. I hope that this time around of growing my hair out I remember to enjoy  and be grateful for everything involved in taking care of my hair, including detangling.

That's all I have today,
Tootles for now......
